Oh, speaking of poetry here is a video from an open mic performance on the Bowery in NYC — In this video, I am reciting a poem titled “Juliette” that I wrote while in 2012 Hong Kong. I woke up, in a rush at 3 am the morning, flicked on the light, grabbed a pen and paper and this just came up and out of me, word for word. — Mostly all of the pieces I have ever written happen this way…in a rush of a moment, it just bursts out of me and onto the paper or electronic device. 🙂 click here
Jaquair Gillette invited me to be a part of a weekend of poetry on April 23rd & 24th 2021 — A blogger by the name of Kevin Stephany, joined in and wrote this on his personal blog A NIGHT OF SPOKEN WORD PRESENTED BY MASQUERADE THEATRE. Stephany shared in the article, “Juliette” featured a number of firsts for Ms. Chonacas. The poet wrote it during a stay in Hong Kong in 2012. It may also be a first in the history of poetry as the work of both William Shakespeare and pop singer Sade moved her to write it.” Check out the article here.
