Checking In with Kyriaki

Checking In with Kyriaki
She's All Over The Place Podcast Season 1 - Episode 9 Transcription Thank you so much for tuning into She's all over the place with Kyriaki that's me. Hi, Gems. I am so excited today. Woo. It is the very first edition check, check, check, check, check, check, check. An actual check-in what's going on inside here. Huh? What? No one wants to hear about it. I knew no one wants to talk about it. I do wait. People want to run from it.

Wait, stop running. Come back. Check in, check in, get in, get in Katie's corner. Checking In. We're going to have so much fun. Seriously. This addition is going to be enlightenment Evolved. just kidding. Seriously. All right. Y'all let's check into it. I don't know where your background stems from, but I know through doing this life work, I found in many circumstances, I'm a quote unquote perfectionist. And so I definitely shifted from that perfectionist syndrome and I practice not to operate from that place.
So I'm in New York city. I got booked on a gig in Los Angeles. I search for flights, probably around three or four different times. I rented a car that was pretty easy. Thank goodness gracious. And then I went to LA, I landed, I went to my friend's mom's house. Had some Berries, had some hot tea, took a hot shower, got a good night. Rest, woke up really early in the morning, seven 40 went to my storage and I was able to get to set 15 minutes early and I was sitting and I was present just for 10 minutes. I was just allowing myself just to get settled, just to breathe, make sure I'm present and center.
And five minutes before it checks the client, I said, Hey, I'm here. And they came down to the parking and they picked me up and I was on time for set. I had a beautiful day. There was food on set, people I've seen and worked with before I was done. And then I was able to go get my mail. I was having anxiety. My adrenaline was so high. I was rushing and I was checking in with myself from when I got upset. I was in a race cause I was gonna go have an early dinner and like birthday dinner with a friend. So I was like rushing and I was looking at the time and I'm like, you know, it's like, it's not possible.
I'm like, how long does it take from the restaurant to get to the airport? At least an hour it's peak traffic hours. So we just scratch the whole thing. But the important thing is I was really upset about it and it was like a let down. I was really looking forward to this amazing dinner and meal to see yummy meal. Before I get on the plane, you know, with my friend's mom, who's become a good dear friend mentor for me. And, you know, I was feeling all these things and checking in and like the plant expectations of like, this was going to happen. But then being like, you know what, it's not going to happen and being okay with it, I'm going to get to the airport. Everything's going to be okay. I'm not going to be rushed. I'm not going to miss the flight.
I'm gonna be able to get to the airport and do what I have to do. And this part didn't happen. But it didn't ruin the whole experience where normally before I'm like all or nothing would totally ruin the whole experience. I'd be so mad about it because what happened was I got to on the set, the other model who actually got along with, she had to like take off her makeup off. I ended up like sitting there for an extra 30 minutes, like patiently waiting and okay. In that moment I could have been like, yo, just take me down and come back and get this girl. I gotta go. Like, people knew I had to leave, but I didn't. And, and so I was, the anxiety was building. And so I'm aware of that now, because I know like reflected on it, but I didn't. And so that put me 30 minutes behind, which actually made it.
So I didn't go have the birthday dinner and meet up with my friend. So there's all life lessons here. I'm really proud of myself because of how I responded. And I didn't react in a certain way. Like I said, it was a bummer, but I was able to just like, go on with it and have a good time. Just like another moment of what I went to storage. I got everything I needed to get. Except one thing, one thing I couldn't find and deep down, I kind of knew, I didn't know her. It was, and I kind of knew I wasn't going to be able to find it. And I even like called in St. Anthony, I was taught this thing. It's like St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please come around. I've lost this item.
And it must be found. And I did it for like four minutes and I'm like, yo, come on. And you know what I mean? And I was really believing in it. So I'm like tearing apart my story. So anyway, that was a bunch of footage from something that I have on a hard drive. And my music partner, Nikki Scorpio had the idea to edit one of our music videos and use that as the footage. So in my mind, it's like, boom, you need all the options from the footage and the hard drive. So, you know, it's like spectacular. Perfect. Well, the short film from that footage is 16 minutes long and it's all spectacular footage. So I was going back and forth and reflecting and checking it.
And I just said, Hey, by the bullet, it's going to, if it's all or nothing, we're not sure where that music not going to happen until one of us goes to LA again and then storms through the storage to find the hard drive or another option could be. And I talked to myself about this, which I'm really proud of because normally I'm really hard on myself. And this time I was like, actually having dialogue and checking in with myself and say, Hey, you know what? I'll just have to use the footage from the short film. And then I was down about it. And then I checked back in and I'm like, you know what? I'm like at 16 minutes of footage in a music videos, like, I don't know, three, four minutes long.
I'm like, it's going to be plenty of footage. And then I checked in with myself, like, I don't know the whole vision he has for the video. Cause he does amazing after effects and all of these things where he could, you know, implement different things. So there's a lot of options. So

The moral of the story is just being able to let, go and deal with what's right in front of me, literally and being okay with it, knowing it's going to work out. Great. So I know from practice and work, I decided just take some deep breaths. So I was just taking deep breaths. I was taking deep breaths and then like, I don't know, maybe 10 or 15 minutes would pass and I'd be like, okay, you're not breathing. The anxiety feels like it's coming back. So I breathe again. I would breathe again. And then, and then I actually got my mail and then instead of just getting in the car and going, because I knew I had like, some time would go room since I wasn't meeting up for the dinner.
I just sat there right on sunset Boulevard at my mailbox. I just sat there. And I just started talking to myself. I may have even like put the visor down and like connected with my eyes with my soul. Because when you look at yourself, like, you know, like if there's worry there, do you feel sick? Are you sad? Like without even saying anything, like you can just connect with your own spirit and your own soul just by a look. And that tells me like where I'm at. And I knew it was anxiety. I knew I needed more protein. I knew, I knew I needed some food in my system. I do not think self-awareness comes with age.
If I knew the tools that I know now, when I was 11, I could have applied them. There. It's all about who you were exposed to your surroundings, your role models, the wealth of information and education you're receiving on the seeker. I've always been a seeker. And as I keep going, I learn more gems and gifts. And that's why I'm here sharing with you so you can learn as soon as possible and then circle around and come and teach me something. That would be super cool. And I'm sure there's things you could teach me now. So self-aware well, I am taking a deep breath in exhale.
Come on and do it with me. Just take the deepest breath you've taken all day. You inhale it and you're exhaling from the bottom of your gut. Let out the toxicity breathe in purity. Ah, I'm going to leave some links below so you can take time for yourself and check in with yourself and become more aware. Cool. Awesome. Do you have practices of how you check in with yourself?
